AARF Executive Board

The AARF Executive Board works hard to help Richmond animals. Please read below to find out more about the exceptional people who comprise our Executive Board.

AARF PRESIDENT - Cindy Chiles-Smith

Cindy first joined AARF about 10 years ago when she ran into one of AARF's stands at PetSmart. She volunteered to help bottle-feed kittens and then puppies. Cindy has been rescuing and fostering puppies and dogs ever since. She was Recording Secretary for two years and now is the treasure/Dog Chair/Puppy Lady. Cindy also runs adoption stands every weekend, sends updates to the AARF site, and makes deliveries. She has been instrumental in maintaining AARF's presence on the Petfinders web site by submitting articles and pictures. Cindy is a tremendous help with various fundraising events and is the fund raising chairperson. Cindy helps keep all our dogs and puppies well by giving all the shots and wormings for each dog and puppy. She is also one of the dog chairs and is also on the Board of Directors.

AARF FIRST VICE PRESIDENT - Debbie Allan

Debbie has been with AARF for over 4 years. She was first involvled with AARF when she adopted her first AARF dog Zeus in August 2006. She and her daughter Tiffany have fostered many dogs, delivered dogs to their fur-ever homes,checked references on applications, worked at all our dog stands and even participated and worked at all our fundraisers. Debbie is also the foster chairperson for AARF.

She has adopted three of her fosters dogs: ROXANNE ,MILLIE and GRETA.

AARF SECOND VICE PRESIDENT - Sandy Konopky

Sandy joined AARF in June 2007 after adopting her first dog Charger. Along with helping on Saturday's dog stand with her daughter Amber, she is involved in fostering and fundraising activities.

AARF RECORDING SECRETARY - Sharon Malechek

AARF CORRESPONDING RECORDING SECRETARY - Luci Medekova

Lucia began volunteering with AARF 3 years ago. She has since fostered many dogs and helped find homes for some of our slightly more misunderstood long timers. She has assisted with numerous fundraisers and helps in as many ways as she can. She has 2 adopted dogs, one being Smiley, a Katrina rescue that was with AARF for number of years.

AARF TREASURER - Kathie Garrett

Kathie adopted her first dog, Aubrey, in 1997 from an AARF adoption event at the Ukrop’s in Short Pump. She began volunteering at fundraising events and soon opened her home to foster special needs dogs, momma dogs and litters of puppies. She served as Corresponding Secretary for 2 years, 2nd Vice President for 2 years, President for 2 years and is currently serving as Treasurer. Kathie works adoption events and fundraisers, processes adoption applications, delivers dogs to their permanent homes, supports many administrative tasks and seeks exciting new opportunities for AARF to grow in the Richmond community. Kathie has adopted two of her fosters, Lindy Lou and Bella.
